Gift Shop

St. John's Gift Shop opened in 2002. Margaret Ann Player and other volunteers envisioned the shop as an opportunity to raise money for outreach. They began by selling St. John's items and local food, jewelry, and art. It was an instant success.

Today, St. John's Gift Shop has expanded to include "all things Episcopal". The shop has an extensive inventory of Episcopal items including calendars, bookmarks, decals, lapel pins, t-shirts, neckties, and more. The shop has also become a bookstore stocking Bibles, Books of Common Prayer, devotionals, Episcopal reference books, and new releases.

Directed by Melene Hatcher, the shop continues to be managed and operated by volunteers. Funds from the shop are granted to Episcopal related ministries. The most recent grants include Episcopal Farmworker Ministry, Episcopal Relief and Development, Dominican Episcopal Church, St. Joseph's Episcopal Church, St. John's Ministry for Deployed Military, and Virginia Theological Seminary.

The Gift Shop sponsors the St. John's Speaker Series. The series offers an opportunity for readers to meet authors and learn about their recent works. The Speaker Series has hosted the following authors: Bishop Michael Curry (Crazy Christians), The Very Rev. Ian Markham (Episcopal Questions/Episcopal Answers), The Very Rev. Kate Moorehead (Get Over Yourself, God's Here), The Rev. Lauren Winner (Wearing God), and The Rev. Lindsay Freeman (Bible Women).

The shop also has a website, EpiscopalShoppe.com. Most items in the shop are available online, and Episcopal Shoppe ships daily. The shop also operates temporary booths at conventions and area churches by request.
